Huntersville Elementary Modular Classrooms Complete on Gilead Road

Modular classroom work at Huntersville Elementary School, 200 Gilead Road, is complete, providing swing space during construction of the 45-classroom replacement school. ADW Architects is the architect; Swinerton Builders is construction manager and general contractor.

Five new modular classrooms were added next to the lower parking lot in summer 2026. Five older modular units were taken out of use and will be removed, with foundations and walkways demolished in phase one of the replacement project.

Building permits carry values of $47,166,000, $6,820,000, $5,500,000, and $2,824,000. Swinerton's bid packages included plumbing, rebid with a June 9, 2026 bid date.

The work falls under the $2.5 billion CMS 2023 bond referendum. The replacement school is estimated at slightly over $66 million and opens for the 2028-2029 academic year.
