GSU's Chastain Childers Field Rises in Summerhill
Georgia State's 1,000-seat, $15.8M baseball stadium is under construction in Summerhill, on the site of Hank Aaron's 715th home run.

Chastain Childers Field at Bill and Susan Reeves Stadium, a 1,000-seat ballpark, is under construction in Summerhill. Georgia State University is developing the project, with architecture by CHA, on the former Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium site where Hank Aaron hit his record-breaking 715th home run.
The city approved the Land Disturbance Permit on November 18, 2025, and construction began that December. The $15.8 million project is funded by GSU Athletic Association gifts and reserves plus Foundation funds and gifts. Completion is slated for fall 2026, with play beginning in the spring 2027 season.
The stadium features 1,000 seats and a turf playing surface, with plans for expanded dugouts, upgraded batting and bullpen facilities, new technology infrastructure, and improved seating and hospitality spaces. The Hank Aaron statue will move from Center Parc Stadium to the main entrance, and a marker in left field will note where Aaron's 715th landed.
The site sits just north of Center Parc Stadium, home of GSU football. The Board of Regents approved the naming in May 2026: Chase Childers for the field, Bill and Susan Reeves for the stadium. The ballpark anchors a broader GSU athletics neighborhood plan that could add softball, beach volleyball, and tennis facilities.
