Digital Realty's CLT13 Data Center Under Construction in West Charlotte

Digital Realty's CLT13 data center at 12899 Moores Chapel Rd in west Charlotte is under construction following the issuance of more than 20 building permits. The two-story facility anchors the company's 156-acre campus, planned at 3 million square feet. Completion is expected December 31, 2028.

Recent permits include a data hall upfit for CLT13 Suite 100 valued at $41,106,038. Individual permit values range from roughly $7.2 million to $150.3 million.

The campus, comprising CLT13, CLT14, and CLT20, consists of two two-story buildings supporting up to 400 MW of IT capacity. Building 1 is planned at 570,880 square feet per floor; Building 2 at 785,480 square feet per floor. Digital Realty bought the site in 2024 for about $160 million. Charlotte City Council approved rezoning petition 2024-144 on May 19, 2025.

Digital Realty is also funding a Duke Energy substation, DLR CLT 13 Substation Medium Voltage Distribution, to power the campus. Once operational around 2028, it would be the largest data center in North Carolina by square footage and power capacity.
