366-Unit Carmel Commons Redevelopment Approved in South Charlotte
Charlotte approved a 366-unit apartment and townhome redevelopment at 11440 Carmel Commons Blvd, with office demolition slated for Q1 2027.
Carmel Commons Apartments and Townhomes, a 366-unit redevelopment at 11440 Carmel Commons Blvd, has won city approval. The 10.9-acre site will hold 315 multifamily units in a five-story building plus 51 for-rent townhomes. Terwilliger Pappas is developing the project with Vivmark Residential.
The City of Charlotte approved site plan amendment 2026-020, clearing the project to move forward. The site currently holds a former office building, with demolition expected in Q1 2027. The development team says the Carmel area has not seen a new apartment community in roughly 20 years.
The project is separate from Avalon Carmel Commons at 11301 Carmel Commons Blvd. The two share a street and a name but are distinct developments.
