GFTX Riverfront Eco-Park Proposed for Austin
Tesla proposes a 28-acre riverfront eco-park with a trail, a shared-use path and a boardwalk beside Giga Texas.
GFTX Riverfront Eco-Park, a 28-acre riverfront restoration by Tesla beside its Giga Texas plant, is proposed along the Colorado River east of Austin, TX. It aims for community engagement and environmental sustainability.
Tesla's site plan, filed March 24, calls for a decomposed granite walking trail, a concrete shared-use path and an elevated wood boardwalk along the riverfront, with native plantings and wildlife areas.
Public transit options are currently unspecified as the project remains in the proposal stage.
Correction, Oct. 22, 2026: An earlier version of this story called the project mixed-use and listed a sports complex, playground, community orchard, fishing areas, outdoor workspaces and wetlands. Tesla's site plan includes none of these. It covers the restoration of 28 acres of riverfront with a walking trail, a shared-use path and a boardwalk.
