Heritage Village at West Lake Opens on West Lake Avenue
Heritage Village at West Lake, a 102-unit affordable rehab at 239 West Lake Avenue NW, opened in Atlanta with an October 29 ribbon cutting.

Heritage Village at West Lake, a 102-unit affordable community at 239 West Lake Avenue NW, is complete. A ribbon cutting was held October 29. Quest Community Development Organization and Columbia Residential developed the five-story, 61,300-square-foot project.

The $35.7 million rehabilitation converts the former Waluhaje Hotel, a Green Book-listed destination that hosted Duke Ellington, Dizzy Gillespie, Ray Charles, and James Brown. Atlanta Housing purchased the 6.8-acre site and ground-leased it to a Quest nonprofit affiliate for 75 years. It is Atlanta Housing's first New Markets Tax Credit-financed development.

All 102 one-bedroom units serve households earning up to 30% of area median income, backed by Atlanta Housing HomeFlex project-based vouchers. Twenty-four units are reserved for single adults ages 18 to 24 aging out of foster care.

Amenities include a restored 150-person ballroom with historic stage, a public Mercy Care Federally Qualified Health Center, and entrepreneurial incubator space. The remainder of the site allows future phases.
