Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee has broken ground on a 200,000-square-foot headquarters and distribution facility at 1301 Donelson Pike. The industrial project sits on a 23.6-acre site purchased for $7 million. Second Harvest is the developer; HASTINGS Architecture designed the facility.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held October 27, with crews set to begin heavy site preparation immediately. A building permit valued at $39,041,140 has been issued. Total project cost is reported at $89 million. Metro approved $65 million in tax-free bonds.

The facility will replace the Martin Distribution Center at 331 Great Circle Road in MetroCenter. It will nearly double cold storage capacity and serve a 46-county area. Features include a Neighbor Care Center with wrap-around services and nonprofit partners.

Opening is targeted for early 2028.
