Baylor Scott & White Emergency Hospital Approved in East Fort Worth

The Fort Worth Board of Adjustment approved a five-story, 65-foot emergency hospital at 2511 Mitchell Blvd. on Sept. 16, 2026. The 20,000-square-foot facility, a joint venture between Baylor Scott & White Health and Emerus, will offer 24/7 emergency care with 16 emergency rooms and beds.

The board granted three variances: a dumpster enclosure setback, an ambulance canopy exceeding the 12-foot height limit, and an ambulance drive configuration. A separate height variance raised the building from three stories at 45 feet to five stories at 65 feet, stepping down to two stories at the street.

The 2.65-acre lot sits in the Renaissance Square area, part of the new Mitchell neighborhood improvement program. The Fort Worth Housing Finance Corporation approved the lot's sale for $808,000 on Jan. 27, 2026. The HFC bought the property in 2009 for $57,000, a 14-time return. The HFC retains mineral rights; the buyer pays all closing costs.

The hospital is one of four emergency facilities the joint venture plans across Dallas-Fort Worth. Renderings were presented to the HFC during the approval process.
