145-Unit Mixed-Use Project Proposed for W. Trade Street
Historic West End Partners proposes a 145-unit, five-story mixed-use project with a Weaver Street Market co-op grocery at 1735 W. Trade Street.

Historic West End Partners has proposed the Five Points Co-op Market and Housing project, a 145-unit, five-story mixed-use development at 1735 W. Trade Street in Charlotte's Historic West End. The building combines housing, a grocery market, office space, and a small-business incubator.
The 1.25-acre site spans five parcels along W. Trade Street near Johnson C. Smith University, in a designated food desert. Plans include a 13,000-square-foot co-op grocery developed with Weaver Street Market.
Roughly 29 units, about 20%, will be reserved for households at or below 30% AMI. City Council approved up to $4.131 million in loans from the Housing Trust Fund and transit-oriented development fee-in-lieu resources for land acquisition.
Land assembly wrapped in September 2026. Groundbreaking is projected for late 2027, with opening expected in 2028 or early 2029.
