The Perot Museum of Nature and Science announced a four-acre campus expansion at 2201 N. Field Street in Dallas, its first since opening in 2012. The project adds 60,000 SF of outdoor science exhibits, doubling exhibition space. Morphosis, the original architect, leads design, with Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates as landscape architect and The Beck Group as architect of record.

The expansion is funded by the $185 million Curiosity Unbound campaign, which has raised $135 million, about 73 percent of goal. It replaces surface parking with green space and adds an on-site parking garage.

The outdoor science park includes roughly 25 large-scale exhibits and 40 interactive learning stations: a fire tornado, lightning and thunder pavilion, water vortex, mist maze, shaded river, cloud maze, elevated treetop walkway, paleontology garden, and pollinator garden along River Street. The centerpiece is a representation of Tylosaurus rex, a newly discovered mosasaur species identified in North Texas. The project also includes a reimagined entrance and lobby plus expanded educational, dining, and event space.

Construction begins in early 2027, with opening anticipated in late 2028. The museum projects 400,000 additional annual visitors, pushing total attendance past 1.4 million.
