Carrier Global Corp. announced a $600 million Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering Center at 1501 Distribution Drive in Fort Worth's AllianceTexas development. The project will renovate roughly 600,000 square feet inside the existing 1.2-million-square-foot Alliance Westport 12 building. Hillwood is the developer.

The investment will roll out over three years. A filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation lists an estimated construction cost of $500 million, and a $48 million building permit for the Westport 12 shell warehouse was issued in February. The facility will produce air- and water-cooled commercial chillers for data centers and other markets.

Plans include engineering labs, office space, mezzanines, an elevator, and three manufacturing lines. The project will create 1,500 advanced manufacturing, engineering, and other jobs, and will pursue LEED certification. An earlier city proposal cited a $433.8 million investment and nearly 500 jobs.

The Fort Worth City Council approved a tax abatement reinvestment zone and nominated the project for a Texas Enterprise Zone designation on Sept. 15. Construction is set to start Dec. 1, with completion projected for Sept. 1, 2027.
