Kramer Substation Opens at Burnet and Esperanza
Kramer Substation at Burnet and Esperanza in North Austin is now operational.
The Kramer Substation at Burnet Road and Esperanza Crossing in North Austin is complete. Developed by Austin Energy, it adds capacity for fast-growing parts of North Austin.
The substation is a key infrastructure project for the area. Austin Energy announced on February 17, 2026 that it had been energized, and it is now operational.
Strategically located near major roads, the substation supports North Austin's growth, including a planned mixed-use development.
Correction, Oct. 22, 2026: An earlier version of this story said the substation includes 200 parking spaces and serves industrial growth. No source gives a parking count. Austin Energy built it to add capacity for growing North Austin and a planned mixed-use development.
