Watco Buys Kinder Morgan's Port Sutton Terminal for $56.4M

Watco Transloading LLC has purchased Kinder Morgan's Port Sutton Terminal at 4801 Port Sutton Road in Tampa for $56.42 million. Kinder Morgan operated the site as its Tampaplex Terminal. The property spans two parcels; the larger covers about 92 acres with nearly 187,000 square feet of buildings.

The terminal sits along the Port Sutton Channel with CSX rail access. Infrastructure includes two ship docks, 41,000 feet of rail track with capacity for four 100-car trains, open storage, truck dumps, rail unloading pits and floating cranes.

Kinder Morgan's listing described 114 acres with three warehouses storing 72,000 tons, three 3,000-ton silos, 40 acres of open storage, capacity for 400 railcars, two floating cranes and discharge capacity up to 750 tons per hour.

The FTC cleared the transaction early on Aug. 20, 2026, and the Port Tampa Bay board considered consent to the change in control on Aug. 18. Watco Holdings is also acquiring Kinder Morgan Port Manatee Terminal LLC and Paddy Ryan Crane LLC. Watco is a privately held Kansas transportation company with nearly 5,000 employees.
