301 South Tryon Wins Historic Landmark Status in Uptown
Riverside Investment & Development and Singerman Real Estate will convert the former Two Wells Fargo Center into 282 units and a 180-room hotel.

Charlotte City Council granted local historic-landmark status to the former Two Wells Fargo Center at 301 S. Tryon St. on September 28, 2026, in a 10-1 vote. The designation clears the way for a $250 million redevelopment and makes the owners eligible for state and federal tax credits that could cover up to half of the renovation costs. The conversion, now called 301 South Tryon, will include 282 apartments, a 180-room hotel and office space. Riverside Investment & Development and Singerman Real Estate LLC are developing the project.

The developers acquired the property for $36.5 million in April 2026. The 3.4-acre site includes a 32-story tower and a 12-story connector. Completed in 1971, the tower stands 433 feet tall. The site will be renamed Jefferson-First Union Tower upon completion.

The owners filed a land development construction plan permit on October 8, 2026. Construction is slated to begin in early 2027.
