Christ Church of Central Austin has won approval for a mixed-use development at 112 Medina St., 1005 East 2nd St., and 105 San Marcos St. in East Austin. The project, Christ Church Planning - SOUTH, includes 33 units and rises to 60 feet. The 78702 site sits just east of downtown near the East Cesar Chavez corridor.

Plans combine residential, religious, and commercial uses: an expanded religious assembly space, ground-floor commercial space that could house a preschool or coffee shop, and structured parking.

Approval follows a rezoning of the Medina Street and East 2nd Street parcels, with the San Marcos Street address added to the project scope. The rezoning moved from proposed to approved, clearing the church to advance the development.

The site sits one block south of East Cesar Chavez Street, within walking distance of Saltillo Plaza. The Plaza Saltillo MetroRail station on the Red Line is roughly half a mile north, and Capital Metro bus routes serve the East Cesar Chavez and East 7th Street corridors.
