St. David's Breaks Ground on $180M South Austin Patient Tower

St. David's HealthCare is building a $180M, four-story patient tower at 901 W Ben White Blvd, adding 160,000 SF to its South Austin campus. Completion is set for late 2027.

St. David's South Austin Medical Center's patient tower is under construction at 901 W Ben White Blvd, moving from proposed to active construction. The $180 million, four-story tower adds 160,000 square feet to the campus. St. David's HealthCare is the developer; Polkinghorn Group Architects is the designer.

The tower houses a 30-bed patient care unit and a 20-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit. Surgical capacity grows by four operating rooms, with shell space for future OR expansion. Supporting spaces include a seven-bay PACU and an eight-bed pre/post-surgical unit.

The project also delivers an expanded main lobby and registration area, a pre-admit testing suite, a new utility powerhouse, and a sterile processing department. Completion is set for December 31, 2027.

The site fronts Ben White Boulevard (US 290/US 71), south of the South Lamar interchange, with direct highway access.
