Vela Park, a 328-unit mixed-use development at 1881 2nd Ave in Decatur, is open. Perennial Properties developed the project, with architecture by Dynamik Design. Leasing began in July, and the Vela Park Food Works food hall held its grand opening Aug. 5.
The roughly 12-acre site includes 328 residences ranging from studios to two-bedroom apartments plus two- and three-bedroom townhomes, 43 of which are rental townhomes. The food hall has six independent kitchens and a full-service bar with indoor and outdoor seating, alongside about 5,000 square feet of retail, an event stage, and a public greenspace with an activity lawn.

Residential amenities include a pool, two-story clubroom, coworking space, and podcast studio.
The project sits just east of Atlanta's city limits in a corridor that has drawn steady mixed-use and multifamily investment. The food hall and greenspace add commercial and open-space uses to an area previously dominated by residential and light industrial properties.
