The Five Points Station Transformation (Package 5) is under construction at 30 Alabama St SW in downtown Atlanta. Led by MARTA with design by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, the 144,400-square-foot project is slated for completion by December 31, 2029.

This is the newsletter's first coverage of the project, prompted by recent permit filings. Building permits valued at $110 million and $5 million have been issued, and square footage was revised from 144,000 to 144,400. The structure stands 27.7 feet tall.

The centerpiece is a 32,000-square-foot mass timber and glass canopy over the station. Other elements include a centralized bus hub, a reconnected Broad Street pedestrian connection, a public plaza with flexible event space, a community garden, a station soccer pitch, and public art through MARTA's Artbound program. The scope also covers restoration of the 1901 Eiseman Building's terracotta facade, three new pedestrian entrances, and improved wayfinding and ADA accessibility.

Five Points is Atlanta's central transit hub, where MARTA's Red, Gold, Blue, and Green lines converge. The site is bordered by Alabama, Broad, and Peachtree streets.
