SoMi Walk, a 173-unit, 16-story student residence, is under construction at 5959 SW 71st Street in South Miami. Alta Development is developing the 192-foot tower, designed by FormGroup Architects, with completion expected June 30, 2028.
The site sold for $23 million with plans for 117 units. The unit count was later increased to 173, and a building permit valued at $70.1 million was issued.

The project includes 173 parking spaces and amenities spanning a resort-style rooftop pool deck, third-floor pool deck, fitness and wellness centers, cold plunge, sauna, tanning beds, golf simulators, study centers, rooftop paddleball, business center, wellness lounge, café lobby, bike shop, dog salon, and public plaza. It is pursuing LEED Gold and Platinum certification.
The site sits near the South Miami Metrorail station, with direct rail access to the University of Miami and downtown Miami, and near US-1.
