UT Austin has approval for a 2.5 million sq ft medical center at 3925 W Braker Ln in North Austin, with completion expected in 2030.

UT Austin has won approval for a medical center at 3925 W Braker Ln in North Austin, near W Braker Lane and MoPac. Skidmore, Owings & Merrill is the architect. The 2,500,000-square-foot campus sits on land formerly part of the Pickle Research Campus area.

The campus will include a hospital tower, outpatient facilities, an emergency department, a cancer care center, and biomedical research space, with AI-native digital infrastructure throughout. Phase 1 carries an estimated $1 billion cost; total development is reported at roughly $5 billion.

Now approved, the project targets completion by December 31, 2030. It marks a major expansion of UT's medical and research footprint beyond the downtown Dell Medical School campus.

The site sits southwest of Braker and MoPac, with direct access to one of Austin's primary north-south corridors, near the Domain and the J.J. Pickle Research Campus.
