Atlanta has approved ATL Zoning 2.0, a comprehensive rewrite of the city's zoning ordinance. The measure, Ordinance 26-O-1508, was developed with planning consultant TSW.
The ordinance shifts away from the industrial-oriented framework of earlier drafts toward mixed-use policy, modernizing rules governing how residential, commercial, and industrial uses are permitted and combined citywide.
Implementation runs through December 31, 2055—well beyond the earlier mid-2026 target—indicating a phased, multi-decade rollout. The approved ordinance includes no affordable housing component in current tracking.
The city also approved a temporary citywide moratorium on self-storage development, a related land-use action now tracked alongside the rewrite.
